So... you know how Undertale's xp system is called "Love?"

In order to play Undertale's Genocide route, you have to raise your "Love" stat significantly. That route has a lot of character details and lore that you would not learn otherwise. In one sense of the word, "truth."

"Without love it canno

I think it's interesting that a major aspect of Deltarune is Noelle's yearning for her absent elder sibling who is often symbolized with a baseball bat.

Cause, like, there's absolutely no universe where Toby Fox has not watch FLCL right?

Reccoa is a character that fascinates me. The best way i can describe my view on her is that like... she's the type of feminist who becomes a transphobe. She spent all this time fighting causes but never believed in them or deconstructed her own preconceived notions of gender and sex.
Zeta Gundam has a lot of stuff about Gender going on in it, and sometimes explores the topic really clumsily, but it clearly has something to say, because at its heart, it's a show about the ways men manipulate and place their burdens and sins and pain onto women.

I often defend Reccoa as a character. Her arc is poorly executed, but imo it works with the themes of each Argama member wanting to form a found family like the White Base but lacking the emotional capacity to do so

But like, I just can't defend when she goes on her fascist gender essentialist arc.

Finished my Zeta Gundam rewatch. Emotionally shattered. Show might be a masterpiece. Fuck you Tomino. Happy birthday Tomino.

I feel like Umineko fans would have more success indoctrinating new fans if they spent less time (rightfully) glazing how genius Ryukishi’s writing was and just talk abt how fun it is. Umi being able to be very goofy and fun is part of why I love it.

Unlike other mecha anime this one is about the characters, not the robots. Also it's about a strait-laced young boy who must keep the exitance of Aliens, Time Travelers, and Espers from a teenage girl who is unknowingly god. Also it's not a mecha in any way whatsoever.

An interesting thought abt Jerid:

Thought an observant viewer in episode 1 will notice that the Titans are obviously douchebags, the show draw enough parallels to Amuro's story to mislead the viewer into thinking Kamille may join them. AEUG is compared to Zeon, and Bright is with the Titans...
It's a testament to how good Zeta Gundam's writing is that Jerid starts out as the shithead fascist bully who instigates the whole plotline and yet 30 episodes in, after focusing on him so much, I can't help but feel bad for this guy who thinks he's the protagonist but only loses everything he loves

Unlike other mecha anime, this one is about the characters. Also it doesn't have robots at all. Also it's a romantic comedy about gamers in modern Japanese highschool and their wacky misunderstandings. Also not a mecha in any way whatsoever.

Fred was able to find happiness through believing his father could be John Cena, he learned to view the world with love. Fred the Movie is kinda like Umineko.

Tried making a top 100 anime and tbh it kinda just proves how much of a fake weeb I am. Basically anything past 80 was just me phoning it in and thinking "yeah I guess that was pretty good"

Thoughts?

Umineko is such a long story that yesterday I had a moment where I thought “wait did Beatrice make Battler strip naked and walk on all fours like her dog on a chain?”

Checked and, yeah, that did happen but in my defense whenever I think about that section, the cannibalism stuff steals my attention.

Sometimes I will see people discuss Umineko and it's metafictional elements without discussing the equally prevalent commentary on abuse and trauma. They go hand and hand. Umineko isn't just a story about stories. It's a story about the stories that victims tell themselves.

You know, for better or worse (for worse), Sword Art Online is almost definitely the most influential anime of the 2010s.
