Inez Milholland toured to agitate for women’s right to vote. Despite having pernicious anemia and against the advice of her family, she persevered. She died at 30 after collapsing in the middle of a speech. Her last public words were “how long must women wait for liberty?”

The blue ones are Blue-capped Cordonbleus, the flappy one is a Crimson-rumped Waxbill, pretty sure the sparrows are Swahili Sparrows, and there’s a Fischer’s Lovebird poking its head in on the side. Tanzania.

You seem very unbothered, yes. This is how an unbothered person acts. This place is full of marginalized people, and marginalized people have a hair trigger on listening to stuff that marginalizes them more. It seems like maybe this isn’t your scene. Perhaps you’d be more comfy over here:

About 8% of trans Americans have already changed states because of bigotry. That’s 130k-260k people. If each of those brought just ONE family member on average, that’s 260k-520k people. These are Oregon Trail numbers (about 400k went to OR/CA/UT on the trail). Will we get a video game and monuments?

About 8% of trans Americans have already changed states because of bigotry. That’s 130k-260k people. If each of those brought just ONE family member on average, that’s 260k-520k people. These are Oregon Trail numbers (about 400k went to OR/CA/UT on the trail). Will we get a video game and monuments?

And here is a reading order chart by sub-series, which is my preferred/suggested route. I think the City Watch novels are the best starting point but you can make a strong case for any of them!

In the 50s there was an experimental “Air Conditioned Village” in Austin to test residential AC. They found residents slept better/longer, got less sick, and spent less time cleaning. (and because it was the 50s, this was sold as “your wife will have more time to cook for you!” 😬)

Daily Walrus Fact 🧪 : Sometimes walruses roam away from home. This walrus, Wally, got on boats. The new boats were overwhelmed by the sudden walrus mass on top of them, and the boats sank. He then moved on to different boats and sank them too. This is not a metaphor, why would you think that?

Walrus fact of the day 🧪 : Walruses spend a lot of time in cold water and on the beach, so they need a strong temperature regulation system! They change their blood circulation on land, which is why Mr. Dozer here is pinkish. When they get back in the water they turn grey as they redirect blood.

I’m also going to do a week of walrus facts, because walruses deserve it. Someone wanted to know if walruses have a prodigious appetite for oysters, like in the Lewis Carroll poem. Most of a walrus’s diet is bivalves, the family of clams and oysters. So… yes! They suck the meat right out. 🧪

Time for a WALRUS FACT! 🧪 Walruses don’t usually eat fish, unless they’re in a zoo. They use their whiskers to feel around on the sea floor for clams and other invertebrates. Then they suck the meat right out of the clam, thousands a day

Clownfish socially and biologically transition! When the dominant female in a group dies, the dominant male immediately socially transitions followed by a biological transition. Their gonads change to ovaries and in time they’re fully female. One of the smaller fish becomes male in her place 🏳️⚧️ 🧪
