I was thinking this morning about how, well. Transitioning saved my life - it gave me something resembling a life in the first place - but I'm not sure I'd unreservedly recommend it to someone considering it any more.

This bluesky feed is a really fun mix of economics and depression posting, huh?

Two years on and: same lol. And it's only really getting worse with each passing day.

Taking solace in my loved ones, dissociation, and making money :P
To interrupt the previous (mildly) horny post: i do slightly feel like i have been unable to see any joy or goodness in the world for like. Years at this point. And I'm told this fact is quite bad.

Definitely like a 9 at the moment. This is the best scale ever.
Move over PHQ-9 - the new depression test is the "Endsinger Index." It measures the probability that you'll say "hold on, let her cook" when she's monologuing.

Trying to get my head around the latest tesla earnings report and uhhhh. I mean, headline numbers are bad, but have you seen the cashflow? Also the balance sheet is all over the place.

Not sure if this is dodgy or just poorly broken out.

It's funny to me that, entirely besides anything about the difficulty of the task, SME owner-operators are by and large the absolute worst at understanding how to run a fucking business.

Godspeed to everyone engaging in the ancient sport of falling knife catching.

Article from a Tesla bull: "If you don't think they can solve full self-driving and autonomy, don't own the stock. It's 90% of the value.

Me, furiously googling "TSLA put options": yeah alright.

If you conspiratorial say shit like "Vanguard are the biggest investor in basically everything!" it is an easy and quick way to know you know nothing of what you're talking about.

Wow 6 months pennydrops really knew what she was talking about re: TSLA.
My investment strategy? I like innovation and growth. That's why I invest in the company that doesn't make any money and whose stock drops 10% every time the CEO opens his mouth.

TSLA's still overpriced :)

Well done to Amazon for losing a sale because they have made the process of "putting stuff in the basket, hitting buy" confusing by adding "different baskets" for things.

Genuinely why.

I can't help but see LLMs as the apotheosis of the decay of meaning in the modern world. An epistemic black hole. Every time I have to engage with them it makes me deeply fucking depressed.

It's not an entirely new phenomenon, but it's rapidly gone from industrial to fully automated and. Ugh.

NVIDIA falling out of the tree and hitting every circuit breaker on the way down. Very, very funny.

(Anyone with half a brain could see that it was overvalued. It still is. Probably by ~75-100%.)

Seems like every single application and website has chosen this week to shove GenAI popups down my throat. Constantly. With no option to disable it.

Fucks sake.

There's so much interesting stuff in Enron and how that kind of massive scale fraud happens and remains undetected for as long as it does: FTX is the other big example to come to mind.

The bubble economics of GenAI worry me because the numbers don't add up and so many companies are billions deep.
Who is up for a short thread on the intriguing parallels between OpenAI and Enron, as told by one of Enron's investment bankers -- that is to say, me? Here goes...

Was reading an article on Microsoft's culture and use of GenAI and... holy fuck am I glad I'm not heavily invested in tech right now ;-)
