Posts here will be more personal and less fandom directed, although much of my DNA is in the culture so there will be overlap - opinions are my own and do not reflect my employer or my relationships.
Sending happy and healthy wishes to you and yours in this new year. I've seen a lot of people posting that 2025 felt like being awake during surgery and in so, so many ways I get it and agree.

I was in love with Eyewitness Books but my favorite was the Rocks and Minerals one - BY A LOT. I used to bring it to summer camp and school and was obsessed with collecting any pretty rock in the hopes of turning it into a pigment. It tied art and science together and I hold that memory close.
What was your favourite non fiction book as a kid? I have very fond memories of one called "How to handle a hamster" that taught you random skills like changing a plug (defunct skill now but still).

Becoming increasingly clear we’re gonna have to build a parallel infrastructure for all the media we really love. The reason all of this is happening under the color of law is hyperconsolidation, dissent being traded straight up for merger approval, or fear of harassment.

He spoke out about his diagnosis in March, and nothing about him getting fired was said until after he started flooding his Twitter with these anti-vaxx conspiracy posts.
I'll take any excuse to dunk on WB, but this doesn't add up. He got fired because of this and is trying to change the narrative.

I was SHOCKED that this series didn't take off into the stratosphere. MC and his former partners from several past lives were isekai to the present day and they are all cool with each other. It's a mix of coming of age and slice of life with fast forward buttons and had unlimited potential.
Entry 5: World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman
Now I remember more of this anime in particular! Though not by much- The mc was about to recall two? Of his past lives and I believe other characters could recall theirs as well. I found that concept interesting!

I am so happy to be in a union - even if things don't run perfectly, there are people who are willing to listen, learn, and put things on the ballot to change. In my experience, it's one of the few places where I can explore what it means to have an organization protect the people from our work.

Been having the OG EN VO Ranma 1/2 in the background for the last few days and I totally forgot how wild some of the episodes are. It was perfectly cast and still nostalgic, even if some of it is a little culturally out of bounds today. Mousse and Ukyo are still my favorites, with Akane rising.

One of my friends used to do field support for our nursing program and it nearly broke her because these were the cruelest people going into healthcare. They screamed and hurled targeted insults, got physical fast, and weaponized their cries to the faculty. She was scared to go to the ER and quit.

the way KSS' Idol Project had me in a CHOKEHOLD - when I was a naive fresh faced frosh otakuling I imprinted on Mimu like a baby duck. No idea how to adult? Check. Blind faith that things would sorta work out? You betcha. We even had an award night at the uni and guess who was the Excellent Idol?

In higher ed circles there's all this talk of conferences having to go back to hybrid in order to accommodate international guests and attendees - and as a person with a disability I can't help but be really ticked off about it. We performed MIRACLES during lockdown and then just threw it away?

I'm navigating this now with a university student organization I advise - the students are coming at me and when I respond with the same energy they shut down. If I give them space to sort their feelings out, they genuinely appreciate it. Some change minds but that's not the goal.
I wish some of yall would understand how much progress you’d make with people by just not being unnecessarily mean lol
