Something common between Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and software engineering is how we teach them:

A few fundamental concepts and tools and drill over and over, but the practical stuff is packaged as “patterns” that always have to be adapted to the stiuation

Also, for both nothing beats time on the mats

I’ve always been incredibly proud of building SoundCloud with fewer than 100 engineers, but this is an exceptionally efficient team to be put at the same level as the venerable Instagram and WhatsApp

Even if Cloud has eliminated many of the struggles we had in the 2010s; this is an incredible feat
