Just a guy, standing in front of a computer, asking it to do something useful.

Neuroscientist, creator of PsychoPy @psychopy.org
Very sad to see my uni (University of Nottingham) suspending its Music degree and all undergraduate courses in Modern Languages, on the basis that they have low uptake and the uni hasn't enough money to carry them.
Students will lose out, the uni will lose out, society loses out

Huge thanks to @psychopy.org and especially @hirstrj.bsky.social ! After spending thousands on other tools with little support, Dr. Hirst solved all my technical problems within days. If you are using behavioral, eyetracking, and EEG systems in your lab, I recommend checking out PsychoPy.

We've been going green: got a 2nd hand EV (an MG ZS) and love it! Also got solar panels and battery, so now I'm in that mode of constantly checking to see how much it's charging! (Mostly just because of the novelty).

Will update soon on how it's going, but good so far 😎

I think we might need to make toys a @psychopy.org feature
Did you know your MacBook has a sensor that knows the exact angle of the screen hinge?

It’s not exposed as a public API, but I figured out a way to read it and make it sound like an old wooden door.

Using code for experiments and stimuli is a great visual way to learn.

I learned the majority of python from experiment design.

📚🐍

Very happy to have been part of this book with @dalmaijer.bsky.social @peircej.bsky.social
Let me tell you what I like about this book. The language. No, not Python, though that’s ok. The language in the delivery. It’s human. It reflects my approach to teaching (and learning!)so is familiar.
I am ok at reading code/editing/fixing but not great at writing it. This is helpful.
