We use Mack and Rock's inattentional blindness task on a large sample of museum visitors (N = 13539!).
Person silhouettes led to a stimulus specific inversion effect for detection.
Even in absence of top-down attention, the visual system is ready to detect the upright human form!

Seen our latest paper yet? With MEG we show that objects sharpen the neural representation of ambiguous scenes at a similar timeframe as we have seen the contextual effect of scenes on objects. It's a bidirectional relationship in the visual system. w/ Marius Peelen
