#ArtAdventCalendar A collage of acrylic paint textures on copy paper. Painting of the papers/textures was done on a Gelli plate.

A collage roughly the size of a sheet of US office/copy paper. The collage is divided by black painted lines into 6 sections, 3 across on top and 3 across on the bottom. Inside each section are geometric shapes of painted paper: rectangles, portions of circles, triangles, a shape that looks like an abstract letter 'p'. Colors are dark grey, light grey, yellow and orange.

Hennepin County’s proposed layout for Lyndale Avenue S. falls short.

It’s not a people-first design. It’s a decorated, street-level parking lot, dusted with the occasional confetti of mode shift virtue signals.

No protected bikeways, 24/7 bus lanes, or green space throughout the entire corridor.

I’m sorry for sending you a picture of a cat when everything is terrible
No, don’t be, please
I want the pictures of cats
of trees
Maybe it’s me who’s irresponsible, wanting those pictures of trees
of cats
when everything is so terrible
No, it’s not
It’s not irresponsible to want to remember the fragility of a leaf
and its power too
the way it buds and grows and changes color and falls. The way it feeds some and shelters others, all while powering something mighty, with such deep roots
It’s not irresponsible to want to look at soft warm fur, and imagine pressing your face into that softness, or to contemplate the miracle of toes spread wide in pleasure, or smile at some small naughtiness captured in pixels
You send me these things because you love me.
And I send them to you because I love you
yes, even if I don’t know you
I am sending you this picture of a tree, this picture of a cat, because I love you and I want you to know that you are loved enough for me to want you to remember trees
and to remember cats
even when it feels wrong to do so.
Let us both remember that trees have roots that dig into the earth
and branches that reach to the sky
even on the worst days.
And cats—
cats especially—
for they are famous for enjoying the soft caress of a friend one moment
and turning into a ferocious ball of claws and teeth and bristling fur and indignation the next
as must we.

Experimenting with gel plate tonight. Adding layers to make things more interesting. Some turned out cool, some got pretty blah looking. I like the one on the right, especially.

2 acrylic monoprints using blue, purple, orange, crimson and yellow. Each print uses stencils with repeating rectangle and oval patterns.

I got inspired watching a YouTube video by EddieMakesArt www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjVK.... He shows how you can use a stencil on a gel plate for repeated prints with some interesting results. Fun little session tonight! Thanks, Eddie! Not sure if you're on Bluesky.

5 acrylic monoprints using blue, pink, yellow, grey and black. Each print used a stencil that resembles bubbles of varying sizes.

Experimented with the gel plate and acrylic paints. I was trying to work on shapes and straight lines. I learned a lot though I was kind of underwhelmed with how these turned out. Onward. 😀

I've been playing a lot with my Gelli Arts printing plate and acrylic paints. I don't know where this is going but it's been fun and it's keeping me out of jail and off Twitter.
