Excuse me, but what the hell???

He was a good man. I think he used his life well and will serve as an excellent role model for young men and women for generations

Unfortunately, his focus on peace in the Middle East still has not come to fruition. I’m reading his analysis from the 80s and it could almost have been written this year. I pray for his soul, but also for the thousands of lives threatened every day by violence

He wrote about a missionary who said compassion is easy. One simply has to “love the person in front of you.” In residency and fellowship, I have tried to uphold that even with the most challenging situations. Everyone must be respected and it’s our job now in the present to do that.

In College and Med school, I was inspired by his work ethic, and stories of his mentor, Adm. Rickover, the founder of the nuclear navy. I would always ask “have I done my best?”

In high school, his integrity and honesty taught me a vision of Americanism that rose above the cynicism of the Bush years
