Zelensky is a wartime leader watching his people suffer and die under Russian attacks every day. To be lectured and lied to by Trump and Vance, as they defend the war criminal dictator committing these atrocities, is unimaginable agony. An everlasting shame for America.
Trump has not uttered a critical word about Putin but he and his VP publicly belittled the leader of the nation Putin invaded.

This is what we mean when we say the regime is censuring science.

“CDC staff should not be co-authors on manuscripts/abstracts with WHO staff,” nor publish papers on work "funded by WHO.”

🧵Who is opposing the Trump administration?

I analysed 76 actions of the administration since inauguration and then searched for *meaningful* opposition to each.

I grouped the types of opposition and considered what we can learn from both them & actions where opposition has been lacking 1/24

Major news:

Entire first-year class of the Epidemic Intelligence Service must be out by 5pm, sources say.

Also: a major CDC contractor "just let go." Others may follow.

This is an attack on our ability to detect outbreaks.

More, with quotes from CDC officials:

The legendary Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) gone, just like that. Since 1951, these disease detectives have hit the pavement and secured vital information needed to face emerging threats to our lives.

It truly breaks my heart that after we went through COVID, the burnt out OG public health workforce *and* new grads/early career folks who went into it all bc they saw how vital it was during a pandemic, are now being fired, losing their funding, & ultimately shown how little our field is valued

In 2023, a Google researcher wrote, “We have no moat, and neither does OpenAI.”

The paper argued open-source AI would outpace closed models by iterating faster and offering more flexibility. It also predicted users wouldn’t pay for restricted models when free ones were as good.

A prescient take.
