Here is my symbol of 2025. This defiant coalition of snow, mud, grass, sticks and two mismatched gloves is not your classic snowman. But those who say he’s not pure or white enough fail to understand his power. He endures though all the snow around him has melted. And he is all of us.

I’m oddly sentimental saying goodbye to a car that we’ve owned for almost 19 years. We are the ultimate “buy it new and drive it into the ground” family.

It’s a day so dreary and rainy that this boy, usually eager for a long morning walk, went half a block, did his business and promptly dragged me back home.
