Watching the 1000s freed from Sednaya Prison—a 'human slaughterhouse' of enforced disappearances, torture & murder since 2011—broke me. I wept for them, their families, & this bittersweet moment. May all with roots in Bilad al-Sham feel this joy, and may the kin of those freed sleep peacefully. ❤

It is quite the fragile god who needs political power to preserve and enforce their will.
