That's my bishop.
The Rt Rev’d Craig Loya, 10th Bishop of Minnesota, speaking outside the federal building—named for his first predecessor—where the Secretary for Homeland Security was making an announcement about increased immigration enforcement in Minnesota. This is what moral clarity looks like!

If your church isn’t focused on the redemptive love of Jesus Christ, you’ve lost the plot. This applies both to whacky conservatives and whacky liberals. Seriously: the Gospel is grace and mercy. All the time. ⚓️

I came home to my 14 year old absentmindedly whistling a 17th c hymn tune.

Once a church musician kid, always a church musician kid.

So while examining the foundation under the church back steps today I found this...

Today in the Episcopal Church we remember Enmegahbowh (c. 1820 – June 12, 1902; meaning "He that prays for his people while standing"). Born in Canada, he was the first First Nation's person to be ordained a priest in the Episcopal Church. ⚓

The reason why medieval churchmen were so fond of bad puns was because they were Fathers.

Since I'm old, I remember when the Patriot Act, creation of DHS and ICE happened after 911 and thinking it could go badly some day.

Taking independent study Biblical Hebrew was definitely not a part of my music theory degree, but makes total sense now that I'm in seminary.

But I really want to say that Art History was wonderful, has never directly helped my degree or career, but has brought me so much joy.

I bought a Prius.
Yet another step in my journey toward ordination in the Episcopal Church.

I love looking at (and being tempted to buy) old biblical commentaries in used bookstores.

What I love even more is finding notes written in the margins. This one indicating the previous owner was a fellow Episcopalian because they referenced the 1982 hymnal.
