Russian negotiation tactics:

1. Demand the maximum
2. Present ultimatums
3. Do not give one inch in negotiations

Because there will always be people in the West who offer you something.

Some amazing bass playing by Stu Fletcher, who in a past life played with The Sea Horses and the Happy Mondays.

Please, some huge band somewhere, you need this guy!

The amazing @johnsweeneyroar.bsky.social

At the Old Bailey this morning covering the trial of Reform traitor Nathan Gill, and this evening, back in Ukraine to cover the reaction to Trump and Putin's "peace" plan.
War Diary Nov 21st, 2025
At lunchtime in Old Bailey I saw Nathan Gill, ex Reform UK’s get ten years for taking bribes from a Russian spy.

Now I’m in Ukraine to get reaction to @realDonaldTrump’s shameful peace trap written by another Russian spy.

Interesting day/night…

Watch @johnsweeneyroar.bsky.social chase Nigel Farage across the Essex Riviera: Clacton-upon-Sea.

With a very simple question that the Reform leader is refusing to answer...

"Mr Farage, who introduced Nathan Gill to a Russian spy?"

We have VAT on energy bills and people this winter are choosing between heating and eating because it's such a difficult thing to afford, and a necessity. But if you fly on holiday, there's no VAT. So that's an example of how our tax system is regressive, those with the least contribute the most.

This story about a Reform councillor in Northumberland has about three different massive stories in it.

He's accused of ripping off his constituents to the tune of £140k.

He owes his own council nearly £40k in unpaid tax.

His own council is suing him.

Non-religious refugees already struggle to have their persecution recognised. Under temporary status, they could be told it’s ‘safe’ to return even when social hostility, blasphemy laws, or extremist groups still make return life-threatening. The policy is blind to lived reality.

What does ‘safe’ mean for people persecuted for their identites like the non-religious & LGBTQ+? Their risk doesn’t disappear because a country looks stable on paper.

Reassessing thousands of cases every 30 months won’t capture that nuance, and the Home Office is already overwhelmed.

What the Labour Party used to understand was that it wasn’t that immigration was tearing the country apart, but that immigration was what was holding the country together. Immigration kept our NHS going, our transport system going, our education and much more.

It’s still true. They must know it.

The basic problem with the temporary refugee status policy - especially one lasting up to 20 years - is it leads to very few removals (based on Denmark's experience) but does significantly worsen integration.

A Government of cowards.

Rather than tackle inequality - they've gone for pensioners, disabled people and now it's people fleeing war and persecution.

They can't get away with this.
