The European Council was not a failure for vd Leyen and Merz.
The reparations loan didn’t make it but the Ukraine funding is in place - the crux.
You could call it negotiating anchoring - they pushed hard for a frozen asset-based solution, the no camp fought it but then settled for another fix.

Charlie Kirk war nicht „rechtskonservativ“. Er war in den letzten Jahren dem Spektrum des White Nationalism zuzuordnen, ein Faschist und offen rechtsextrem, hat gegen BPoC und LGBTQ Menschen gehetzt, ein radikaler Sexist obendrein. Man kann seine Ermordung verurteilen ohne ihn zu verharmlosen.

Für Demokrat*innen, die sich mit Entwicklungen in Ländern auseinandersetzen, in denen autokratische Kräfte herrschen, ist es verstörend, wie oft das Verständnis und Vorgehen der CDU/CSU-Führung unter Merz & Co dem Verständnis und Vorgehen in diesen Ländern bereits ähnelt, wenn nicht sogar gleicht.
Im Sauerland wurde die Wohnung einer 17-Jährigen wegen "Anti-Merz-Schmierereien" durchsucht.
Es gab keinen stichhaltigen Verdacht. Der rechtswidrige Beschluss kam vom Amtsgericht Arnsberg, deren Direktorin ist die Ehefrau des Bundeskanzlers, Charlotte Merz.
