what a lovely image of Carlos Ezquerra and all the characters he drew

Rather more than 25 minutes in, but still my all time favourite inter-title card

I rather liked this at the time - it struck me as an interesting blend of modern high-tech sci fi and old school 1950s space fantasy. The robot dog with a hidden agenda was very prescient

With a splendid physical performance from Doctor Who background legend Pat Gorman to boot!

It was a bit of a surprise - we weren’t very busy at that point, so it was a definite highlight in an otherwise boring week.

I only vaguely remember the project he discussed with us - I think it was a WW2 thing, maybe about the Battle of Britain?

I think he was a bit overwhelmed by the response - word went around that he was in the building and pretty much everyone came out to meet him, we had around 25 staff at the time. We had to show him stuff on film from our Steenbeck - it was that long ago

I thoroughly enjoyed the Edge of Darkness episode too - shortly after we started Double Negative in 1998 Troy Kennedy Martin turned up in our reception unannounced, I think his niece or other in-law was working with us. He wanted to learn about VFX and we were very happy to answer his questions

I may be confusing it with a 1970s BP feature about Doctor Who SFX, either way, it’s the earliest memory I have of someone explaining how model effects worked - highly influential on my subsequent career path!

Always loved 2000AD sound effects.

It’s a corker - also featuring a deeply nasty Willam Hartnell as the callous boss, and a super young “Big Tam” Sean Connery

It grows a little bit all the time, but only when you’re not looking

I read somewhere that the nuns only made it into the series after Davies decided to make them silent, which meant the actors were paid a lower rate, which in turn made them affordable.

This was bloody marvellous

“A gluey substance found on the Chapel floor” eek!

Yes, that’s it! The goofy cover belies the terror held within!

I had an annual in the 70s, I think it was called Ghost Special, with items about Borley Rectory and the Grey Man of Ben Macdui, also scared the willies out of 10 year old me

Sad - that was also the fate of my first digital watch in 1978

We're likely going to end up in a situation where no human being stands a chance of understanding how the products of this process (eg vibe-coded software) actually work - a baroque and impenetrable black box of unknowable code

Yeah, I guess - though I did ask my boss at the time (very early 1990s) and he replied "it's so that we can charge more and people will accept it" :-)

I use an HDMI extender to get around that (a bit messy with the cables, but needs must and all that)
