Rather more than 25 minutes in, but still my all time favourite inter-title card

Absolutely - amazing baroque organic imagery, like nothing else. The Biogs were a triumph - blew my 10 year old mind.

Appears to have the same diodes as my Cambridge Universal calculator (purchased 1976)

Tough day, amused ourselves by getting ChatGPT to make stupid ads for old cars.

Starburst, Omni, Science Fiction Monthly, + the occasional issue of Interzone kept me going. This cover was painted by an art teacher at my brother’s school in the 80s :-)

I’m not sure why whatever benighted algorithm it was served this up to me today (perhaps image searches for weird creature references?) - do people actually wear these things? Is it even real?

It does look a bit like the Kosmoskrator from the 1960 film The Silent Star :-)

Holy hooting heck - 30 years today since this baby was released into the world. This is where my career in feature film VFX began.

I see a lot of miseryguts comments in my timeline about the Doctor Who finale. I had a joyous time watching it last night with my (big) kids in a packed Leicester Square cinema. Anyway, somebody sent me this - I guess it was inevitable.

For the beat where the mercenaries go up through the ceiling we shot green screen elements of stunt performers at New Deal and added them to plates of the miniature set and to the interior of Applied Sciences (the car park of the LA Convention Centre).

As a bonus we stole a shot from a bit of test footage of the miniature which was used in the movie as Batman's bleary POV of the ceiling through the falling water just before Bane hits the detonator.

Nathan Crowley's set at Cardington in the UK was huge, must have been 80 feet tall, but it didn't have a ceiling, hence the miniature to start the beat - When the Tumbler hits the deck that's a full-size car dropped through the UK set. Me in front of the set, and the full-size car.

Was rooting through my photo library, came across some images from the miniature stage on The Dark Knight Rises. 1/5th scale Bane's Lair + Tumbler at New Deal's old Marina del Rey facility, January 2012. We used the miniature for the shot when Bane blows the charges and the Tumbler drops through.
