i understand this is one of those things you're never supposed to say because it makes parents mad, but statistically speaking, "parents care about their children's best interests and can be trusted to be appropriate guardians of those interests" is an incredibly unsafe and unsupported assumption.

For too long the Home Office has wrongly judged refugee children to be adults, and in doing so deprived them of the care, love and support they need as the children they are.
