Echoes of 2021, when Putin wrote an article claiming that Ukraine was part of Russia.
„The book claims that the Lithuanian nation and language do not exist.“
This is the Russian playbook. This is the exact same narrative with which Russia prepared its attack on Ukraine.

Yesterday, for the first time, I heard a VERY high ranking former European official, a conservative, say the words:
„Maybe we will be better off without the Americans after all.”
We were discussing the so-called US peace plan for Ukraine, a shameful document of capitulation and exploitation.

I can confirm this feeling from friends in Europe.
I think it bears repeating that the rest of the world — allies, adversaries, the invested, the indifferent — think the American people have lost their minds for not seeing and stopping what is happening to this country.

For a lifelong transatlanticist like me who came of age at the peak of American (hard and soft) power, these days feel like when your aging parent suddenly succumbs to Alzheimer’s, not recognizing you anymore, and, what’s worse, not knowing who they themselves are.

I struggle to express just how *weird* Vance’s #MSC2025 speech was. This is a transatlantic security conference, happening while there is a war in Europe, and the US is announcing a partial withdrawal from European security. And the US VP speaks about (alleged) threats to free speech in Europe??

As someone who lived/worked on Syria for the USG, and saw first hand the depravity of the Syrian regime, I find it very hard to ignore Tulsi's views on Bashar. He is a mass murderer and war criminal. I guess if you voted for her as a GOP senator, you r OK with that. Oh well.
The Senate just voted to confirm Tulsi Gabbard as Trump's Director of National Intelligence, 52-48.

Mitch McConnell voted NO. All other Republicans supported Gabbard.

ALL Democrats voted NO.

Gabbard has taken a sympathetic stance toward Russia and Syria under the Assad family's rule.
