An honest execution of what Marshall is suggesting would have you know of that in advance (with the opportunity to choose a different anesthesiologist), but I'm skeptical that will be the result.

I never thought about it before, but all the pie dishes I've seen (I'm in the US) have sloped perimeters. They're about 45 degrees (or 135 degrees with the bottom of the dish), so the crust they support will end up the same.

Maybe I'm missing your meaning, but is that really so different from, say, "Garfield, specifically, is lazy and hates Mondays"? Other than Garfield being more widely read than the comics you're referring to, that is? I'm sure there were strips that relied on the reader already "knowing" Garfield.

Through his mouth?

That looks a little like you're censoring "Asperger" or some other word with five letters between the A and e. (I initially went with a different one but figured writing it out would make my comment invisible.)

I'd like to address his claim that they couldn't find a car that got better than 36 mpg:

Um, wut?

Ahem.

It's hard not to sing those happily.

If they're using ears of corn, either that's a very large board or they're starting out with problems right from the very first square.

If we're positing 10% growth a year, doubling takes a little over 7 years, so shouldn't it be half your money in the last 7-8 years? Am I missing something?

No, it's a French dip sandwich.

Also, isn't Kelly a retired captain, not commander?

Have they not? They haven't w/me, but I thought I was being a curmudgeon (although I assumed there'd always be a large minority who prefers hard copy). For me (and my imagined large minority holdouts) it's a combination of not wanting to do pleasure reading on screens and more tactile factors.

Don't remittances tend to go to individuals, which makes it a sort of market-based solution? Would you just be sending additional funds to people who, in general, have family abroad or matching some other way?

Since you mentioned a tweet, I looked up the case, and I have to say I'm shocked that right was only confirmed so recently.

(Though I guess the omnipresence of cameras is itself a relatively recent phenomenon.)

I actually do recall specifically being told "orders to do x are illegal, don't follow them". After going over to the dark side, my final job on AD was as battalion adjutant, so the legal clerk worked for me, and I know she gave an annual class on illegal orders. May have been unit-specific, though.

We did, ~15 years before your timeline, but as a brief during Basic that didn't really stand out amongst the firehose of new experiences. And then again as part of (boring) annually-required training through 2007. Is it possible you had it but it was just too mundane to stand out in your memory?

Things could go well, badly, or somewhere in between? Really going out on a limb there with this prediction.

Somebody asked what your "shortbus" comment was, so I went to the other thread and posted that one in reply to them.

Because WH is just bullies on an extremely short bus. Like golfcart short. This is pure nonsense. I get Trump being demented and forgetting stuff but he has staff? They already tried that, didn't work

I've never gone for audiobooks myself, but I'd imagine multiple voices would end up making it sound like an old-timey radio play.
