On Saturday, batteries set a new record in ERCOT, supplying 9% of power on an evening w/ high thermal outages & low wind. Prices spiked to near the max for 5 minutes, 4,300 megawatts of storage surged onto the grid (and demand went down ~2,000 MW) & things went back to normal. (h/t @gridstatus.io

Energy folks, can you spare two characters to make sure all your energy friends can see your posts?

Remember to tag your energy posts with #energysky or the emojis 🔌💡 for it to show up in the Energysky feed!

& now you can catch up on the daily top #energysky posts here! bsky.app/profile/did:...

Learned some things today thanks to this good thread 🔌💡
The truth is “cutting red tape” would do next to nothing to catalyze the domestic mining sector.

These projects need a combination of federal support and more favorable market conditions (more demand, higher prices, longer-term offtake commitments) to secure financing. (9/x)

A recent study finds long-duration energy storage is essential to getting more clean electricity on the grid, and could dramatically cut power prices during times of peak demand. 🔌💡

We're wasting too much of the clean energy we generate. Reservoirs and caverns can store excess solar and wind power.

This is gonna be cool for all the energy modeling nerds out there - happening Dec 4th @ noon Pacific. Some heavy hitters in the lineup! #energysky

Energy Exemplar has got another thing coming if they think this is how to stay competitive with open source models. This just tells me that the open energy modeling community is onto something!
🔌💡
Energy Exemplar has blocked all TU Berlin students from academic licences for their energy modelling tool PLEXOS because competitor PyPSA is developed here. While deeply shocked, we believe in turning the other cheek. So we are offering all Energy Exemplar employees a free licence for PyPSA.

Clicking thru 2 months of reposts of this meme traveling through different communities was both entertaining and totally worth it for this unfortunately relatable finale 😂🙃

I made a starter pack of people who made a post so good I showed my wife. my wife is normal so I have to physically show her posts on here. I'll update this list every time someone makes a post so good I show it to my wife

Hey ppl of #energysky : there's been issues lately with properly-tagged 🔌💡 posts not showing up in the feed.

I'm hoping it has to do with site growing pains. Working on it! I know it's important that this feed works for all of us :D

If you see this issue, please tag me w deets of how you posted

Finally removed the Hellthread filter from my skyfeed settings for energysky... feeling nostalgic haha

Hey @skyfeed.app, users of the EnergySky feed I maintain have been reporting that it seems to be many posts with the correct tags - it should include every post with 'energysky' (case insensitive) or '🔌💡', but @gregor.us has been running some tests that aren't getting picked up.

Any ideas? 🙏
Conclusions so far (and I earlier sent a trouble ticket to bsky help desk).

1. posts sent from deck.blue will never reach the #energysky feed.
2. posts sent from the bsky app or web can reach the feed, but often don't.

HTH.

MA’s Clean Energy Bill, passed late last week, has a great bit for the big batteries crowd:

a procurement mandate for 5,000 MW of energy storage by 2030, 750 MW of which must be long duration storage (defined as 10-24 hours) and 750 MW of which must be multi-day storage (defined as 24+ hours) 🔌💡

And don't forget: we can create kinder & more joyful norms here :D
