I have nothing to sell you. I'm just a boy who never stopped loving AD&D.
This month's #TTRPG related purchase at the #Ypsilanti #fleamarket is a $1 #VHS copy of the movie that introduced a very young me to fantasy. Is it weren't for #TheHobbit, I might not even be me.

I saw the "point blank sandwich" thing, too, but didn't worry about it much because #ADnD already has improvised weapon rules tucked away in Unearthed Arcana.

1d2 damage, 30 feet range, and "point blank" is meaningless unless some dope decides to specialize in sandwiches.

It was an #80s-themed murder mystery, and I was the murderer, accidentally confirming some stereotypes about my hobby.

Wife has tricked me into attending a #murdermysteryparty. Like, this is almost #LARPing. I don't #LARP!

The last time I saw #DnD for sale at #ToysRUs (August 2011), this was the display!

I swear, the lifestyle #gamers just never know when to stop, do they?

"Video Games" Really, @bsky.app ?
October 19, 2025 at 3:30 PM
My barely gaming-related purchase at this month's #Ypsilanti #FleaMarket was some half-priced Kamandi comics. The Last Boy on Earth is about as #GammaWorld as a Silver Age #comicbook ever got.

Looking to refresh the #art in my living room, I found this poster. Doesn't fit my living room's vibe, but it does make me want to play old #scifi #ttrpg like #StarFrontiers. Maybe I'll buy it for my home office.

R.A. Salvatore and I have very similar complaints about #ADnD Second Edition. I went back to 1E because TSR wouldn't stop adding dumb stuff to get players' money.

I placed an irrationally large order with gamescience.com today, just because I was excited they had gem dice in stock again. Bought all the colors I thought were too weird 20 years ago!

And the kids who are afraid of subtraction would probably shit themselves if they knew there was an #ADnD rule that required knowing the absolute value of a negative number. Lots of gatekeeping with 6th Grade math in the old days!
August 30, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Still, it's maybe not as bad at whatever the fuck dungeonsdragons.fandom.com/wiki/THAC0 is trying to say.
August 30, 2025 at 2:41 PM
The #redditors are all wrong, of course. #THACO was in the 1979 #ADnD Dungeon Masters Guide, its first definition (in a 1983 #BECMI module) was definitely subtraction, and their brain issues are doubtless pre-existing.
August 30, 2025 at 2:32 PM
Kids on #reddit got worked up over #THACO this week. The most common complaints were subtraction is hard on the brain, that #THAC0 is *not* subtraction, and THAC0 is proof #2E ruined #ADnD.

I'm late for U-Con Game Day at #AnnArbor Brewing #Ypsilanti. I need to hurry and catch up on drink -- gaming! I mean catch up on my gaming!
August 24, 2025 at 4:49 PM
Jousting at the #MichRenFest is a lot like an #AdventurersLeague #DnD game -- too much talking and not enough stabbing.

Last time I lived with my parents, their #cats developed a habit of chasing (and trying to eat) 20-sided #dice. I tried to switch them to d30s because I worried about them choking on small dice, but they wouldn't touch those. Cats only love d20s!

Strange pin to find at the #MichRenFest, though.

I used to date a blonde who loved #RenaissanceFestival potion bottles because "#GenCon never checks what's in them. They just think it's part of your costume." Just a little #cosplaying tip for you all.
August 17, 2025 at 3:18 PM
Artwork on the #MichRenFest 2025 program has a very "late #ADnD Second Edition" vibe. I can't identify the artist, because googling this photo just finds other festival's brochures.

She attends my nerd conventions, so I have to attend hers. It's time for "A Dungeon Master goes to the #MichiganRenaissanceFestival," 2025 Edition!
August 17, 2025 at 2:21 PM
Judging by my credit card statement, I refilled the $25 souvenir cup 6 times during #GenCon, making the averaged cost of drink (25+6*2)/7, or $5.29 each. Not bad for a convention center soda, actually, but I think I can do better. Next year, I'm going to caffeinate harder!
August 12, 2025 at 1:55 AM
I'm skimming old #GaryGygax Q&A threads for #ADnD trivia, and I'm slightly freaked out by the things some people read into game rules.
August 12, 2025 at 1:39 AM
The lights are out in the dealers room and Voice of #GenCon is telling us to leave! That's a wrap on Gen Con 2025. See you next year, Indianapolis!
August 3, 2025 at 8:27 PM
My wife are waiting in line to watch the #GenCon costume contest. She knows a thing or two about winning costume contests! #mst3k
