At that, much of the rest of the caucus went ballistic, and some of the supposed ten said that, in fact, they were not willing to vote for any such deal

It’s not clear this would even do what they say. If “laws as in effect on January 3, 2025” refers to Senate rules, do the rules relating to the parliamentarian also survive? So can the parliamentarian decide a thing meets reconciliation rules? Can the parliamentarian be overruled by majority vote?

The US Department of Agriculture says it will not tap into its $6 billion contingency fund to cover food stamp benefits next month, according to an agency memo obtained by CNN.
