Now, these books are mostly still controlled by Amazon via DRM and their proprietary file extension, so you will have to do some extra steps if you want to use them outside of the Amazon ecosystem.

(This means that, as some gamers and other folks who have "bought" movies and shows via streaming services have experienced, your books could all just disappear with no recourse for you who spent money on them.)
