Sometimes I think the real “War on Christmas” is undertaken by those who are most offended when others say “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas”; they’re often the same people who bring out Christmas decorations on the first of November & throw the tree out on Boxing Day.

My contribution to St. Cecilia's Day 2022: Henry Purcell's 'A New Ground', transcribed by the composer from the alto solo 'Here the deities approve' from his 1683 St. Cecilia's Day Ode. His transcription was printed in 'The Second Part of Musick's Handmaid', published by Henry Playford in 1689.
