when i was 16 my mom almost died of heart failure delivering my baby brother. the bill was astounding so we got an itemized list and i remember that a small box of tissues she requested was a $30 charge. this was 2009, the year i learned shit ain’t adding up.

i don’t know that strengthening the classification of a medication keeps doctors from overprescribing it. what i do know is that i have to pay every two months to tell my doctor’s nurse practitioner that yes, the meds are still working the same.
