There's definitely a balance to it, for sure.

While the lack of control will force players into a funnel, having control of where things spread can also force players to move to the location to stop the spread temporarily. There will need to be incentive to both paths of gameplay.

Exactly my line of thinking as well. It makes gameplay much more compelling as much as it can be chaotic - that sense of chaos is what truly drives challenge by being only slightly out of a sense of comfort while still having a sense of control.

This puts gameplay in the hands of the players in a PvE setting, and becomes a much more "mission" oriented game with a two-sided "battle royale" type situation:

Clear the corruption - or point of no return, defaulting to "Final Showdown".

By unlocking a "site of grace", it can shutdown the corruption from the inside, and shockwave "clear" the corruption to nearby sites.

For PV - I wanna try something different.
Instead of a collapsing bubble / circle, I want the mechanic to be that "sites of grace" become corrupted. The bubble / circle starts to expand from them and causes a domino effect to the others.

Nightreign uses this same mechanic, but it only makes sense to draw every player towards the boss. Nightreign is PvE with "battle royale" elements that don't truly make sense to me other than the flow of gameplay. (Which I will say I do thoroughly enjoy.)

keep your asset pool outside of the project and only include the assets you are using.

also, copy and save to a new folder:

Assets
Packages
User Settings
Project Settings

This is your actual build and bypasses saving gigabytes of millions of 1KB umbracache files.
