It was wonderful to return to my grad school stomping grounds and see what the White group (& especially team nitrene!) is up to 10 years later. Thanks so much for such a great visit!
Awesome to host Prof. Shauna Paradine @paradinelab.bsky.social, the OG of nitrene & White-Paradine catalyst, at UIUC. Her group is finding powerful ways to forge carbon scaffolds that we hope to aminate!

Are you an undergrad or faculty with undergrads interested in materials chemistry and pchem? Interested in an international exchange opportunity? Check out this program led by my colleague!
Calling all USA-based students looking for a summer research experience! We are pleased to share this opportunity to perform research in ITALY on dynamic crystals! 10-weeks, fully-funded (thanks to the US NSF), and applications are OPEN! Please share widely!

Switch the site-selectivity of your carbofunctionalization reaction with this one weird ligand!
Lots of fun to build on this completely unexpected result, this project took us into data science and modeling to learn about the selectivity we were seeing. Check it out!

Just a little research group update: we've had a lot of new faces here recently! We're thrilled to have Lauren Morano, Livan Borrego, and Neively Tlapale Lara as new 1st years. Roberto Leon Baxin (3rd year) also joined our group in the fall. Look out for great things to come from all soon!

Double your pi bonds, double your fun 👯‍♀️ Check out our group's first review, now out in Angewandte Chemie! We pulled together highlights of recent developments in transition metal-catalyzed reactions of dienes. Lots of cool stuff to feature!

5th year grad student Dasha spent last summer doing a DAAD-RISE internship at BASF, and applied her strong column chromatography skills to develop a new technique for extracting microplastics - and just published a paper on it! Check it out: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Returned to my alma mater, Albion College, to give a research seminar on Friday. It was so special going back to where it all began, and to see many of the professors who inspired, encouraged, and supported me (and still do 15 years later!). 💜💛

Had the opportunity to visit Eli Lilly today and interact with an incredible group of scientists throughout the day, and shared my group's research too. Very grateful for the invitation, I loved my visit!

In addition to bringing in my group's first major grants, this summer I took on something even more ambitious: removing some lawn to build extensive raised beds and a terraced garden wall. Those spatial reasoning skills were definitely handy for building a dry-stack stone wall

Ok, moving my group's account from Twitter to Bluesky was a bit soon, so I'll take this excuse to jump into chemsky as a whole person rather than my group's PR (though I'll ALWAYS highlight all the awesome things my students are doing!). So, hi everyone 👋🏻

Coming into bluesky with some good news - our group has been awarded an NIH MIRA! We're excited for the funding and for the flexibility the MIRA gives us to follow the science wherever it may take us.
