Now, some people say that he died up there
Somewhere in the rain and the wind
Other people say that he got away
But then his girlfriend did him in
The lawmen say if he's out there
Some day they're goin' to drag him in
As for me, I hope they never see
Ol' D.B. Cooper again

Really bummed about this - wanted to see him live but never had the chance. 😞

@joesposto.bsky.social - Just now listening to the podcast - which Zdarsky Comic News issues are you missing? (I make no promises, but I may have a source...)

In December, I'll be down to four regular titles - lowest in quite some time. I wonder if the industry is finally starting to pass me by?

I prefer all of my egg rolls to be made with chicken and have ambitious, highly organized, competitive, and goal-oriented personalities.

Today's pickups - The Great Garloo has been out for a while, but curiosity finally got the best of me. 😀

I was only subscribed to 6-7 newsletters, but I just unsubbed and closed my account.
REMINDER:

1. If you're on Substack, get off of Substack.

2. If you want to start a Substack, DON'T.
A thread for getting off Substack 🧵:

1. First, migrate your archive and subscriber list to the new platform. I went to buttondown, which was the most affordable for me as a small letter, not a lot of paid subscribers. It's not as slick of an interface, but it does everything I need.

Fun week at my FLCS!

I know the info is out there and ripe for the pickin', but this is still kinda weird...

Can't wait!

Oh nothing...just contemplating how the TMNT, Shredder, and Splinter wouldn't exist if Eastman and Laird hadn't seen these ads so many years ago...

How it started vs. how it's going...

Slowly getting caught up on my reading - I love this series! So well written by Tom Peyer (this series led to me checking out his equally fun Hourman series) and drawn by the criminally underrated Jamal Igle!

Well, I was caught up with my sorting, recording, and filing...

I received my first shipment from Graham Crackers Comics earlier today and could not be more impressed! The comics were packaged very well, including alternating so that every other one was facing the opposite direction.

The pride of anyone's collection:

I have issues.

But at least after today they are better organized.

Every time I sort and file new comics I am reminded of the single weirdest item in my collection - this poster-sized piece by Kyle Strahm which he drew, and I won, at a local convention. I don't know what to do with it but I feel obligated to keep it so it stays rolled up behind my short boxes...

Well, I'm an Hourman guy now. So far I have found 60% of the run locally in just over a week at an average of $1 per issue (despite any price stickers on the bags).

Am I doing this right?
December 29, 2024 at 6:52 PM
I have wanted to read this run for a while and stumbled across a deal too good to pass up!
December 18, 2024 at 12:35 AM
By the late 90s I had ~15 long boxes. Then I "quit" and started selling everything off.

Then my oldest found out there were Transformers comics so we set up a pull for him at our local shop, and...

Found these for fifty cents each today - I guess now I'm gonna have to complete the run...

A great wrong has been righted and these are now part of my collection.

SPOON!

I recently became aware of two older titles - Humongous Man and Joe Psycho & Moo Frog that appeared to check several boxes on my "think I'd enjoy that" list. I was surprised to find the best deal was through a retailer known for its exorbitant prices. (1/2)
