Mythic Bastionland is one of those TTRPGs where running the first session as a GM feels like you're jumping off a cliff with a hand made hang glider and hoping it'll fly. The game's systems do an incredible job of letting you as the GM show up as clueless as to what plot will unfold as the players.

playing games with K-5th graders is a huge ego boost. i am always the first draft pick for team battles in smash bros. little do they know that i don't even know how to do a grab attack. my name is invoked in the game room as though i am the final boss of mario kart and i barely know how to drift

cocoons and butterflies are invigorating ways to describe trans self-acceptance and identity liberation, but i'm now drawn more to destruction and immolation analogies instead. both imply rebirth, but there's something that feels more accurate to my experience about burning it all down to start over

In the TTRPG Kingdom, Ben Robbins manages to fit a structure of political checks and balances into a rules light game with only 3 roles: Power, Perspective, and Touchstone. Having played 4 sessions, I can already say it's one of my top "nonstandard" TTRPG recs— especially if you like politicking >:)

Piranesi is one of the dozen or so stories that actively breathe in my thoughts. I think it engaged my imagination long-term at the same level as the Lord of the Rings has at this point. Plus, it's short. Read it!!!
Piranesi, I realized in this, my second read, is my favorite book. Don’t research. Just go read it. It’s short.
If you’ve read before, and are considering rereading, I’ll remind you that The Beauty of the House is immeasurable; it’s Kindness infinite.

an inordinate amount of my story writing and worldbuilding centers around snowy or cold settings and the themes they possess. one part of me thinks i should try to expand my locale expertise, but another part thinks i should move to alaska, build an igloo, and embrace the permafrost as my sole muse
