Hello Matt, I am writing to you as a constituent who is extremely concerned about reports that I am hearing about the Federal government (or any government) adopting the report and actions proposed by the Antisemitism Envoy. These goals and actions would strike deeply into the heart of our democratic system, placing one minority religious group in a position of control over people’s freedom of speech, access to an open education, and the ability to interact and be involved in all manner of arts, sporting, employment and recreational spaces. I most strongly DO NOT agree with this person’s report. Conflating antisemitism with protest or dissent places Jewish, Muslim and Palestinian communities at greater risk and strengthens the far right. This approach undermines social cohesion rather than protecting it. If the government is serious about preventing violence, it must act where evidence shows lives are saved: urgently strengthen national firearms licensing and vetting standards, with real-time information sharing across jurisdictions. Antisemitism and racism are most effectively confronted through education, dialogue and solidarity across communities, not speech policing. Fund national, evidence-based anti-racism education programs instead of punitive controls. Australia needs responses that protect democratic freedoms, not expand censorship or surveillance. Safety comes from trust, inclusion and strong democratic institutions — not fear-based politics. I urge you to reject the Antisemitism Envoy’s plan, which relies on censorship, funding threats and the conflation of antisemitism with criticism of Israel. These measures are authoritarian, counterproductive and deepen social division. I await the news that your government has refused to apply this grossly anti-democratic set of actions upon the Australian public.

It has dragged on (I have other things to do in my life than haunt VicPol stations) and the first report was in August after I was reminded about just how bad the close-pass was when viewing the GoPro footage from June 21. After no email I reported again in late September. Now it is 6 months on 🙄
