An amazing resignation letter to Bove from an AUSA who worked on the Adams case.

You are not powerless, and he is not unstoppable. Look at, and learn from, the funding freeze and how quickly he was forced to surrender.

It is notable that Big Law is completely absent from the legal fights to protect democracy. In 2017, they bragged about their pro bono work for the resistance. Now, they are silent -presumably cowering in fear of Trump and Musk.

Support the non-profit law orgs and small firms doing this hard work.

The rule of law is a bright beacon...There are moments in the world’s history when people look back and ask, ‘Where were the lawyers, where were the judges?’ In these moments, the rule of law becomes especially vulnerable. I refuse to let that beacon go dark today.

These are not unprecedented times. They are, in fact, quite precedented. The US has always been ruled by the rich, and divided the working class amongst itself to keep the working class from uniting against rich rule. We can stop the cycle. If we stop letting them get away with it.

As the great comic Nate Bargatze said: “Reading is the key to smart. I really believe that.” You want to resist but don’t know where to start? READ. Read books by change-makers and regime survivors. Talk about these books with your friends. Audio books count. For the love of Pete, READ.

It's heartbreaking to see the amount of law students in my LI feed who have had job offers and internship commitments rescinded due to the federal hiring freeze. Law school is hard enough as it is. To have the rug ripped out from underneath you has to be soul-crushing. Oligarchies destroy dreams.

Average person: "that's a nazi salute"

The Media: "Elon Musk makes odd gesture throwing his heart to the crowd."

Hey friends. So these are Nazi salutes. They don’t even pretend anymore. This should sicken and disturb any human with a shred of dignity. If it doesn’t, check yourself.

Just finished reading Poverty, By America by Matthew Desmond. The whole book is incredible but the last page is particularly powerful. We CAN do better. We MUST do better.

Optor (aka The Peoples Movement) was a Serbian political opp credited for overthrow of the brutal Milosevic regime. One method of attracting attention / support was playing “pranks” to humiliate the regime. It worked. Calling Elon “Pres Musk” and DJT VP is funny, but it also has impact. KEEP IT UP.

The only positive thing I can say about the Trump appointments - both cabinet and ambassadorships - is that I have finally been cured of my life-long battle with imposter syndrome.

Friendly reminder that history tells us that when the govt bottoms out, they’ll blame their failures on a marginalized group of people so that we spend our energy hating that group instead of holding those in power accountable. Do not fall for it. DO NOT FALL FOR IT.
