America has no kings

Mostly here to follow accounts I like and occasionally yell at senators.
My worry is that there were a lot of people who *supported* a "yes" but hid behind the sacrificial 8.

But, that's what pressure is good for. That softness means we can keep pushing them further, as disappointing as today was.

There's a saying that "generals are always fighting the last war" that keeps coming to mind today. I have a lot of respect for what Schumer and other senior members of the caucus have done in the past. But today is a new war and they're still stuck in the last one.

Oh, I'm not denying that the possibility you laid out is a very real one. But anger is power and right now there's a lot of anger for the taking among Democratic voters.

I think it's because those pundits are most in love with the "bipartisan," "moderate centrist" horseshit that the dems are using to justify this. If even *they* think those excuses are bullshit, well, that is a sign even if it's coming from punditry's dimmest bulbs.

I think the Democrats have seriously underestimated how fired up their base is, and how easily that can turn into incandescent anger at the ones in power. I hope that this translates into a Tea Pary-style wave of primary challengers. Replace people like Chuck with people who believe in things.

I'm still really fucking mad, of course. Dems just made this fight much harder for literally no reason. But we'll win with or without the approval of "centrist moderates."

We'll get this, even if we have to drag wastes of space like Chuck Schumer kicking and screaming behind us.

I wish I loved anything as much as (most) Senate Democrats love not standing for anything.

I don't know how we ended up in a position where so many people seem to mistake "lacking any real beliefs or willingness to fight for them" as "political savvy"

What the absolute fuck is she smoking?

I don't think he genuinely means any of that shit. I think he just wants to cave and go back to "business as usual" instead of being expected to do real work to fight for issues his voters believe in. The *image* of a functional government is worth more than its reality.

Honestly, the "no" vote and later video statement makes me like him even less. He's just trying to have it both ways, to cave but also score political points for "fighting for Americans."

He's trying to play both sides of the issue like we can't all see what's happening with our own eyes.

You two-faced bitch. You run the party in the Senate. This only happened because you allowed it to. Fuck you trying to have it both ways by letting the vote happen but also put out this "oh, woe is me" horseshit. Resign. I look forward to donating to whoever primaries you.
