Into my 12th season writing and talking about cycling, mostly women’s professional racing.
Ride bikes, play drums, love beer, have family.

Times headline: ‘BBC failing to tackle systemic bias, says author of leaked memo’. In fact, when asked by MPs, this man, Michael Prescott, said he didn’t believe the BBC was institutionally biased. The Times failed to quote that, in an article about the issue of truthful reporting.

Hugely under did my food intake on today's ride. Not quite to the point of hallucinating, but almost to a standstill. Just had time to have a sleep to help recover and to warm up.

Interviewer: "Do you need to keep the players' feet on the ground?"
Steve Borthwick: "No."
Borthwick didn't say that but the interviewer is lucky Borthwick isn't awkward.

The Argentinian tight head prop in the Scotland rugby game is Pedro Delgado.
Who'd have thought you could win grand tours in the 80s and go on to play pro rugby 40 years later.
He's put some weight on though.

Remember folks in UK English:
Practise/advise/license - verb
Practice/advice/licence - noun.
The doctor practises at the practice.
The advisor gives advice.
She attends licensing to gain her licence.

Ask someone a legitimate question about how something you are writing about will affect them and they don't want to tell you.
Don't complain then.

And I was right.
Apparently unemployable, despite fitting the job description perfectly.
Applied for a job, closing date was yesterday, I've not yet been notified whether I have an interview but I've already lost hope.
Not sure hopelessness has ever come so early.

The Tour de France Femmes route offers some wonderful wines.
There's some good Suisse wine near Aigle, then you've Vin Jaune in Poligny, the wonders of Burgundy for stage 4, the, the Macconais, Beaujolais and the Rhône.
I'll sit at home watching it on TV and get drunk then.

I was just in the wine section of our local supermarket and, because I'm a saddo, counted up the Sauvignon Blanc brands.

There were 26 in the Australia, New Zealand and South Africa section alone.
Who drinks this stuff?

Looking to buy a shirt to wear when playing a Halloween gig and Amazon's size chart is interesting...

Now, I'm not a skinny bloke, but my chest isn't 24 feet (7.3 metres) round and, at only 5ft 8in (1.7m) at least I wouldn't have to bend over to pick stuff up if my arms were 5 feet (1.4m) long.

It's amusing that so many politicians and media fail to believe some people and organisations have no political agenda.
That many of those burdened with serious responsibility - and budgetary restrictions - can honestly, without fear nor favour, do what they are paid for.

Have the UCI forgotten there's a Women's WorldTour race on?

The Tour of Chongming Island started today, though, to be fair, the race has no website and the results website still only have the top 10, 90 minutes since Kathrin Schweinberger won.
