Listened to the new #podsaveamerica episode with #amywalters from #cookpoliticalreport today. They referenced the fact that there are so few competitive districts and how some "blue" states will lose seats following the 2030 census, but...

#hankgreen has a new video that outlines some of the systemic structures that have caused the rise of the Boomer leadership we have had for decades

He missed one in particular which is the Reapportionment Act of 1929

He is deeply concerned the Senate didn't change a bill that he voted for...

Sounds like Seen Murkowski this summer...

If he wanted a change then he shouldn't have voted for it and/or brought the House in session 5 weeks ago to work on new/ different text.
I think Johnson has created a non-existent “issue” with the bill. He claims it fails to define Child Sexual Assault Material properly, which would require the AG to release child porn. It doesn’t, and she wouldn’t have to, but may be a way out? 1/

I wouldn't use the word "enemy" in half of this because of how inflammatory it can be; I think Rep MTG has been a foil/nuisance to the "Left", but she's never really wielded the influence of a real enemy.

I think the second half of the statement should be "Trump made her an enemy of the Right..."

The CR is 40 pgs with 2" margins. Republicans not knowing in it is telling. Earlier this year when the OBBB passed they ALSO didn't know what was in it.

Last term Dems knew what was in each bill & justified compromise.

Republicans are in charge & don't know what they are doing (and don't care).
I don’t know what you did to deserve this, America, but Tommy Tuberville might be about to sue you.

"...but we can't tariff them?"

We can; congress can pass a law setting a tariff.

You can't because you are not a king.
The president seems to have been briefed on how the tariffs oral argument at SCOTUS went:

"I wish we could get things done for our party"

Maybe get things done for our country? Shouldn't you want to support everyone and not just your friends? You are supposed to be a public servant - no?
Oh my god???

Marjorie Taylor Greene: “I will praise Nancy Pelosi. She had an incredible career. I served under her speakership in my first term of Congress. And I'm very impressed at her ability to get things done. I wish we could get things done for our party.”

Spkr Johnson "Mamdani only got a million votes in a city of 8.5M, thats 12%"

The pop of NYC is 8.5M, but not all of them are eligible to vote; there are around 4M registered voters in NYC

That means Mamdani got 25% of eligible & 50% of who did vote; a bigger % than Trump has gotten in an election

Would love for Speaker Johnson to listen to this. Particularly where Mara Liasson notes that Ohio had an independent Redistricting commission and Republicans just chose to ignore it

Remember how Pres Trump said he'd cut off funding to NYC if Assemblyman Mamdani wins?

There were about 850,000 people in NYC who voted for then-candidate Trump, more than the number of people that LIVE in North Dakota.
In the 2024 Presidential election, more people in LA County voted Republican than did in all of Montana, Wyoming, Alaska, & Both Dakotas - combined.

Because of the NYC mayoral election today and my earlier post... it is worth remembering that there are 23 COUNTIES that have a Larger Land Area than RI, and a Larger GDP than VT, and a Larger population than Wyoming.
I am not the Drag Queen to follow about the current events in LA. I want to take a moment to remind folks that the states with the smallest GDP, Population, & Area are:
Area: Rhode Island
Population: Wyoming
GDP: Vermont
And there are 23 counties that are larger in ALL category (including LA)

Population of 3 large elections today:
New York City: 8,478,000
Virginia State: 8,811,000
New Jersey State: 9,501,000

Comparing population of certain cities to states is always a little interesting...

Chicago would be the 37th most populous state
LA would be the 29th and NYC the 13th

I'm curious who the Reporter in question is and what Outlet they report for.

I will say again - the CR that is being held up expires in 3 weeks; at that point something new will need to be passed.

Are Republicans working on that and/or negotiating to get votes for that? No. They are not.
I love how Rep. Joe Neguse reframed this question.
October 31, 2025 at 5:20 PM
So the bill they waiting for the Senate to pass expires in 22 days. At that point the gov't will again be "shut down" so at that point Speaker Johnson will what? Disband the House? They should be in DC negotiating.

I wish that during elections you could flip your ballot over and fill out a public opinion survey.

Polls are great, but they require a large amount of speculation to calculate what the rest of the population looks like proportionally to respondents.

This would be non-binding, but informative.
I’ve been thinking a lot about a new kind of polling I’d like to see. We have polling that measures public opinion, which is obviously important, but I’d love to see a little more empirical work on public knowledge: what do voters know about politics and policy?

Yet we still aren't talking about unrigging the House.
Rep McBride in DE has over 900k constituents while each rep in RH has only 500k.

The "average" rep has 700k constituents which is more than a Senator from VT or WY.

Repeal the Reapportionment Act of 1929 and look at the provisions from 1911.
No one is covering the GOP's scheme to rig congressional maps for 2026 and how Democrats are fighting back as closely as Democracy Docket. From Texas to North Carolina to California and Virginia it's providing the critical information you need.

"We all do better when we all do better" - Paul Wellstone

I miss Senator Wellstone and the sincerity he brought which, it seemed, people of all stripes resonated with.
“If we don't fight hard enough for the things we stand for, at some point we have to recognize that we don't really stand for them.”

— Paul Wellstone

I don't know what else to say
“We found over 35 cases in which the judges have specifically said what the government is providing…false information. It might be intentionally false information, including false sworn declarations time and again," says Ryan Goodman, law professor at New York University.
