It is a relief to see our media finally referring to "Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor" rather than piling-on titles and pomp.

It's about time this approach was the standard across our society. No more "sir" or "lord" or "prince" or "king". Everyone using their names as a society of equals.

Our Republic’s Treasurer, Tristan and Media & Comms Officer, Kiran, have co-written a piece in The National calling for a fairer, more democratic Scotland, one where no one is born to rule, and everyone is equal.

The fate of Andrew is another reminder of how power and wealth has been allowed to make people unaccountable and treat the law as optional.

His loss of titles is seen as the ultimate accountability - but real accountability would see him face a court room.

● Andrew Windsor remains 8th in the line of succession.

●King Charles III will privately fund his new living arrangements despite Andrew being very rich indeed

● Actually we don't know how wealthy Andrew is because his mother's will is sealed for 90+ years

● Sleep well serfs.

● Know your place.

Will Lloyd’s New Statesman essay doesn’t just criticise Prince Andrew, it exposes the system that shields him.

The monarchy has learned how to protect its own interests, not ours.

True democracy means no inherited privilege, no secrecy, and no one above the law.

Unelected power is dangerous.

When leadership is inherited rather than earned, it puts society, justice, and democracy at risk. Power without accountability protects privilege, not people.

It’s time to end unaccountable authority and build a fairer system where power serves the people.

This bill seeks to give Charles the power to unilaterally revoke titles.

It should not be in the hands of a Monarch who does and does not keep their titles - it should be our democracy. Better yet, we should scrap the system of royal titles entirely.

Since the government can't seem to see it, I explain how and why a simple act of Parliament can bring the Andrew affair to the end - and why they should do it.

Our Government could and should take action against Andrew.

For too long our parliamentarians and Governments have been deferential to the crown. It's past time to put democracy first and call time to this family's entitlement and scandals.

Andrew will still be referred to as a 'Prince', and his billionaire family will still cost the taxpayer £500 million every year.

What kind of system would allow someone so demonstrably inappropriate to have such wealth and power?

It's time to abolish the monarchy.

Prince Andrew has agreed not to use his titles, including Earl of Inverness.
Inverness may be symbolically free, but the monarchy still holds all the power.
If Inverness can lose a prince, Scotland can lose the monarchy.

There's good reason "No More Kings" is the shout against authoritarianism - because Kings are naturally opposed to freedom and democracy.

Let's be rid of ours.

In addition to retaining the "prince" in his title, Prince Andrew remains (very aptly) a 'Vice' Admiral in the Royal Navy and also remains eighth in line to the throne.

And there's nothing you plebs can do about it.

But something something about tourists...

A very British absurdity, that you can apparently release a press statement saying you are "no longer using your titles", and simultanously sign it "Prince Andrew." Mr Mountbatten-Windsor would surely do.
October 17, 2025 at 6:24 PM
The Royals should kick out Andrew, and strip him of the title of Earl of Inverness, a city too long stained by association with his name.

Then we should kick the Royals for standing by him for so long and attempting to rehabilitate him, among every other reason we should be rid of them.
