Neat round wound on an eel made by a lamprey. Looks like no big deal. But the blood supplier gets injected with an interestingly wide variety of pathogens. Necrotizing soft tissue infection on a human leg. No indication that this one was created by a lamprey, but better safe than sorry.

As I navigated to the Eelfacts website I found this and was distracted. The website loreolympians.com adds, perhaps unnecessarily, that these interpretations are the author's alone.
What could the eels symbolize? In Oceanic folklore, eels often symbolize fertility and tricksters in the same way snakes do in other cultures. In Tonga, an eel seduces the virgin goddess Hina. Albuquerque turned out in huge numbers. No official count yet, but I can say it was a helluva lot.
