Maybe I should've done ECT but I read way too many horror stories on reddit about people literally losing themselves and their functioning. If any of that happened to me, I'd be worse off than I am now.

Yeah it's mostly "monster of the week" with 0 plot progression and minimal character development.

Thankfully part 1 is very quick (only 9 anime episodes), I do agree it's the worst one. Stardust Crusaders is also a real slog as it's long and not that great, except for the ending.

It's very good. Part 7 is the best manga ever made IMO and it's a universe reset so technically you don't need to see the other parts before it, but I still recommend seeing them to understand how stands work and stuff.
