I had an interesting visit to the Goulbourne Museum a few weeks ago. The smaller museums in the Ottawa area have a lot of history and shouldn't be overlooked!

The Beaver Wars were a series of conflicts between various Indigenous nations throughout the 18th Century. Locally, it took the shape of war between the Haudenosaunee from the south and the local Algonquin. Listen to the podcast and read more on the website here:

On this day in 1989, an armed gunman murdered 14 women at École Polytechnique de Montréal. Another ten women and four men were injured.
The anniversary of the massacre is commemorated annually on Dec. 6 as the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

This past summer, I went on a tour of Ottawa with Black History Ottawa. I learnt a lot and had a nice tour of the city. It was even on local TV!
