Sounds like a good place to start. The selling points of OOTB and KISS sounds like what I was looking for. I imagine Steam being installed will cover most gaming use cases. I’ve only heard of Lutris for being a pain in the ass, so I’m not looking forward to that.

The specifics differ, but if you imagine each move a Pokémon has as a party member in FF, then that’s most of ATB right there, with menu navigation (and in-battle action flexibility) traded in for battlefield positioning. If you squint a little, you could imagine a PKMN switch as a gambit mechanic.

As somebody who hasn’t gotten through a non-remake game since X/Y, it intrigued me enough to buy it after playing for ~2 hours of it. I think what I liked was that it was building a few plot threads already and that the premise allows for a lot of “important” trainers to have their own motivations.

Yeah. I was watching Aki trying it out and I just didn’t get it.

Also, how is it “social deduction” if you can’t communicate with other players? It’d be like if Among Us lacked the ability to voice or text chat. And there’s only 3 players in the game.

What gets me is that, I understand wanting the intended experience for the Virtual Boy, same like how they make those N64 replica controllers for the Switch. But those were optional and they made an effort to make N64 playable without requiring it. But I guess the VB experience is more sacred.
