Math is cool as hell and I regret that people convinced me it wasn't as a kid. A ton of really smart people spent centuries uncovering the keys to the goddamn universe, and even adults told me that it didn't matter because I would "never need the Pythagorean theorem in the real world" or some shit.

I'm American and before deciding to build my own physics engine my knowledge of the metric system was pretty much just "everything is multiples of 10" and I liked that. After learning more, I'm convinced Americans who don't like the metric system have no idea what it is cause this shit is awesome!

I've spent two days rewriting my game engine's ECS implementation and everything built around it. The old one had big issues that grew increasingly clear as it scaled. Despite the painful rewrite, I don't regret that version. Sometimes you need to take a first step to figure out where you're going.

I thought I could use what I've learned from my game engine's renderer to add some 3D elements to a webpage with WebGL. I expected it to take an hour, but I may have been overconfident. My engine is 2D and I had no idea smooth interactive free rotation required a sacrifice to an eldritch deity!

I’m still having trouble processing that the guy who wants to put chips in all our brains and the guy who wants to create mass surveillance managed by AI both have the ear of the president.

It’s out in the open that social media and news CEOs are in bed with Trump. Independent news is great but lacks any standards and is equally susceptible to being bought or threatened. Government agencies will say what Trump tells them. What now?

I finished the entire Dark Souls trilogy last night, with the exception of the DLC in the second and third game that I plan to play later. I’m sure I missed some optional content too. Never played a From Software game before. I have thoughts.

With the government looking to target Tencent under the same foreign adversary law that they used to ban TikTok, and with Tencent owning a large number of shares of From Software, I can’t wait have to read a message thanking Trump for saving Lordran every time I play Dark Souls.

The most unexpectedly hard part of building my game engine has been the scripting system. Even with the flexible C API Lua provides, building a comprehensive API for all the components the engine offers and facilitating intuitive communication between Lua states has been a huge learning experience.
