Programmer, gamer, and enjoyer of most things nerdy. Really bad at writing bios.
Bro, OP literally started this thread by saying “Hi, I’m God.” Atheists will deny God even as they respond to his own thread.

100%! I’m disturbed at how many of the replies arguing against laying off federal workers are saying something along the lines of “government jobs are different!” Instead of “anyone doing honest work deserves at least a basic level of stability.”

The thing that gives me hope on that is that the states control the voting machines and the counting. Trump and the federal government have no control over it unless they do something blatantly unconstitutional, which I wouldn’t put past them but I don’t think they could pull it off in the dark.

I understand the feeling but I don’t think defeatism helps anything. We need to be prepared for that possibility, but know that people are still fighting. Maybe not many in the senate, but as long as there’s good people in the statehouses and in the courts and in the streets there’s still hope.

We haven’t had a law based society in a long time. Maybe ever. The rich have always gotten away with murder while the poor have never gotten a fair shot. If we had a law-based society Trump would be in jail right now and a lot of people on death row wouldn’t be.

We can’t assume anything at this point, but don’t give up on elections just yet either. There are good people still fighting. I wouldn’t expect to flip Georgia again, but maybe state and local officials and judges will hold it together in enough states to matter.

I would have to have higher expectations of these people to feel disappointed in them. I have less respect for some of them than I do for some Republicans. At least the Republicans campaigned on being evil instead of riding into the halls of congress in a Trojan horse funded for by Wall Street.

Btw, I use the Pythagorean Theorem every day, whether directly, or through some abstraction built upon it, though I have yet to decide whether making ones and zeros look and act like physical things on a computer screen counts as "the real world."

I love the boxiness. Even though there’s definitely a bit more detail when you look closely, the general shape and texturing has a nostalgic early 2000s vibe. It reminds me of Deus Ex.

On the other hand, it's going to be great for all the billionaires who can afford to buy up even more of the economy for pennies. Think of Elon Musk's net worth when this is all over! And he'll pay for it all with our tax dollars from those sweet government contracts he's getting.

I feel that way about a lot of tech companies. So many of today's tech giants used to have that scrappy underdog vibe and it only took a couple decades for a few rich assholes to consolidate the market and now we have the hell that the modern tech industry has become.

True. Every time I feel bad about the state of some feature in my game engine, I look at Unity and it makes me feel better that a multi-billion dollar company with 25% market share also hasn't finished any of the features they started working on in an ADHD-induced moment of shiny object syndrome.

Because they're patriots! College protesters are criminals! (Patriotism is when you protest rigged elections - any election Trump lost - by storming the capitol to hang Mike Pence. Crime is when you protest the murder of Palestinian babies by saying "I think it's bad to kill Palestinian babies.")
March 4, 2025 at 3:29 PM
Yeah that sounds like Unity. Don’t worry though. There’s probably something in the asset store that will handle it much better until Unity decides to buy it and announce plans to integrate it into the core engine two months before they suddenly and inexplicably stop maintaining it.

“It’s wild, back then I thought I was almost done” is the story of every project I’ve ever started. 😂

Looks really good!

Why? I want to see Dems fight back too but how would messaging bills that won’t even get a vote be the way to do it?

Surprising absolutely no one…

If you think we all just let this happen you’re deeply ignorant. Many of us are well aware of the effect this will have on the world, and millions of us tried to stop it. I don’t know why you think we should have done but we were not and are not all complicit.

I like it. It’s chewy with very little flavor on its own but it soaks up sauces and broths. It goes really well in stir fries and soups. You can also make it from plain flour and water by making a dough then rinsing away the starch, which makes it a great protein source when money is tight.
