I am a Zen practitioner, at an older stage of life, finding peace and clarity in the simplicity of the practice. Zen teaches me to embrace the present moment, let go of unnecessary burdens, and walk through life with gratitude and awareness.
When exhaling, we focus on the energy point below the navel, which the Japanese call Hara, the Chinese call Dantian, and the Koreans call 丹田 (Danjeon).

Long exhalation through the nose creates a sense of calm and relaxation. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for calming the body, slows the heart rate, and promotes a feeling of inner balance.
