(Of course if you have non-expired cans of food sitting around that are still perfectly good, that is great too! I just wanted to save you a trip to Sam’s Club in case you were thinking of going that route and starting from scratch).

If you spend $3 on a tub of peanut butter at Walmart, a food bank might be able to get 4 tubs with that same $3! They buy in bulk and work directly with manufacturers, retailers, and farmers. So although it might not feel as good, rest assured your money will stretch much further.

It may seem counterintuitive, but donating MONEY goes a lot further than donating food. I know it feels more charitable to drop off cans and boxes, but food banks can get way better deals than you or me.

There are 2 main food banks in Nebraska. There are HUNDREDS of food pantries. Food banks are typically bigger and sometimes have warehouses. Food pantries could just be a back room in a church. Make sense?

Do you know the difference between a food bank and a food pantry? A food bank is a central hub—they safely store perishable food and distribute it to food pantries across a region.

With all of that in mind, I really want to encourage anyone that follows me on here to donate to a food bank or food pantry if they are able. Before you go out and buy a bunch of stuff, let me first explain a few things.🙏

With SNAP in limbo (either cut in half, or stalled completely), this is a very dire time for food banks and food pantries. The experts I've talked to have told me that food banks are in a harder spot NOW than they were during the Covid pandemic. Really let that sink in...

Nebraskans just cross state lines to get their medicine in Missouri and Colorado. Those states get all that tax revenue, and we get nothing.

Make it make sense… 🤦

Even though 71% of Nebraskans voted for medical marijuana on a ballot measure last year, the Ricketts machine has done EVERYTHING to prevent patients from getting the medicine they need.

And what happens?

It also means that profits leave our country but the pollution, price gouging, and economic harm stay.

Ban foreign corporate ownership of U.S. farmland.

This means, companies based in China and Brazil can control parts of the U.S. food supply chain. This poses both a national security and food security threat to the United States.
