I'm not interested in maintaining others' delusions. Fetch the boltcutters.
Ohh right online yeah I guess.
In my experience IRL when used by leftists it's considered a pretty serious accusation and judgement of someone's character. "Sellout - don't trust them." And tbh it's true. Everyone I know who got labeled that way socially screwed others over pretty badly in the end.

I've mostly observed it as an intra-left insult if I'm honest, mostly directed at middle managers who left their radical politics in their doctoral theses. Sellouts, basically. Can't speak to any other use cases.

True. My father was a dental surgeon and thought of himself as 'working with his hands' but also as middle/upper-middle class, which made the usual 'working-class people work with their hands' definition seem silly to him.

To be fair for a very little while there Zara had even the British upper middle class fooled. A high price point and some swank stores did wonders to disguise the low quality, fast fashion business.

I've always like 'the intelligentsia' for artists and academics for this. Educated, cultured, but definitely not wealthy

Honestly I can see why the design’s been kept, it looks pretty practical for the climate.
The first school I attended in England after we moved here required us to wear boater hats when we entered or left the school and we all HATED them because they were very scratchy and left marks on the forehead

I’m curious, what did the uniform involve? Was it comfortable?

In Afrikaans an animal is a “dier” and a tiger is a “tier”. Just to complicate things.

I miss the TsuruRadio blog so bad for this. They had a lovely little community of hipster mixtape makers that introduced me to so many good bands circa 2008-2011. I still have a bunch of them stored on my iPod

I do this with the hope that in four years I'll be able to afford a rig that will play the currently new game. It is never true

Oh and the distances between the station do not reflect real life. Occasionally it really is easier to go back to the surface and walk. And occasionally that is an incredibly bad choice that will make everything much worse. That’s London’s whole deal

The one protip I ever got for the Tube that stood me in good stead for many years is (assuming there are no diversions because of maintenance) if you planned a route with more than two changes there’s almost certainly an easier way to go

Really miss the IRL music culture that Apple and Spotify et al wiped out :(
