Wait I read this story
A page from the book Changing Planes by Ursula Le Guin showing the first page of the story Wake Island, which details scientists genetically engineering embryos to grow into ‘asomniacs’ in a bid to make a population of geniuses, and follows the failure of the experiment. The real success story is this tradescantia zebrina bosse that a coworker gave me cuttings for. Unfortunately they were so over-watered they were essentially stuck in mud slurry, it was a touchy for a while if I’d save them. Lost about half the initial cuttings to rot. Six months between these pics.

I don't know who needs to see this but in the 80s Jim Henson made a series called The Storyteller starring John Hurt and features imho the best adaptations of obscure or non-standard fairy tales ever committed to film.

One of those weird little books I came across as a teenager and think about too often is ThiGMOO by Eugene Byrne, not least because it is probably the most optimistic futurist Marxist story about true AI I've ever read and .

I’m imagining something like this but all one piece
