A general reminder that if you get an audition for a character whose actor has “stepped down”, the chance is HIGH that it’s because they are withholding work due to the ongoing SAG strike.

I STRONGLY advise you to pass on such roles as you’re stepping over other actors to take them.

Be kind.

As a reminder, if the Hoyoverse games were to sign a SAG-AFTRA Interim agreement & flip union...
non-union actors would NOT be recast.

Due to the US Taft-Hartley Act of 1947 which affects all US unions, NU actors would ABSOLUTELY be able to continue working on a flipped union project.

Last week, two voice actors for Hoyoverse game Zenless Zone Zero were recast because they were withholding work due to the SAG-AFTRA Interactive strike.

In these videos, we discuss what happened, why the actors chose to withhold work, and what all this has to do with the threat of AI.

Any contract/agreement is effectively worthless if its terms are not actually enforced.

Take one look at the current state of the U.S. judicial branch vs. our own presidential administration to see a real-time example of what happens if the person being told “you can’t do this” just does it anyway.
There is deeper discussion to be had about the fact that a contract outside of the Union’s can still have AI-Protection clauses in place - but if violated, the actor has to chase that legal battle *ALONE*.

A Union interim contract supplies the LEGAL TEAM to ENFORCE that agreement if it is violated.

The majority of ENG recording for Genshin was in America.

I wouldn’t be mad any other time if ENG recording was happening outside of the US. I’m mad because we are in the middle of a STRIKE and the company decided to outsource rather than listen to concerns.

Not xenophobic to call out a scab.
