You’ll have to wait for the cyclops scheme for that

Why don’t they just go and play in these 2 parks within walking distance 🤔
July 9, 2025 at 10:40 PM
Think it’s because there’s going to be a signalised pedestrian crossing there, so presumably to minimise the crossing distance for pedestrians?
July 2, 2025 at 11:15 PM
Phase 2 design now also includes a cyclops at the King St junction

First phase of Farnworth Streets for All nearing completion (green surface will apparently be added to cycle lane)

Build this little missing purple bit and you’ve connected the city centre to the quays

Good to see that the new Deansgate / Quay St junction gives pedestrians and cycles 2 stages in every full cycle of the lights, so even though I missed this first green light letting pedestrians cross, it was only 25 seconds before another green light 🚦

Here’s an example of how Greater Manchester used their 2023/24 revenue funding allocation
March 22, 2025 at 9:21 PM
Now they’ve combined it into one overall pot of money distributed to local authorities following a formula

Any chance you can add support for Apple Pay Express Mode?

Would speed up bus boarding and means people can still use bus/tram if they’re unfortunate enough to run out of battery. TfL and many other UK operators already offer this

Given 90% of Greater Manchester’s drivers seem to be unable to understand part-time bus lanes anyway, and the other 10% insist on close passing cyclists to squeeze past, can we just make all GM’s bus lanes 24/7 to make cycling at least marginally safer 🤔

Look at all the traffic the new cycle lane is causing in this Streetview image … from April 2017

Swinton Town Hall looking good tonight

Great to see the next phase of Northeastern Gateway scheme set to start imminently, the first step in making the A62 Oldham Rd and A664 Rochdale Rd safer to cycle along/across, with 2 new cyclops junctions and cycle tracks.

Very cold new year ride to the park down #SwintonGreenway 🥶 At 5km total it’s the longest the little one has ridden on her own so far
January 2, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Still did pretty well at staying active overall though
December 20, 2024 at 6:08 PM
My Bee Bikes yearly wrap-up is somewhat underwhelming. Suppose that’s what happens when you already live 2 miles away from the nearest stands and then they suspend those too for almost the entire year 😭

Here’s hoping that 2025 is the year Swinton gets Bee bikes 🐝
December 20, 2024 at 6:01 PM
Well we know that in Greater Manchester 29% of people say they don’t currently cycle but would like to, with most citing protected cycling infrastructure as something which would get them onto a bike
December 19, 2024 at 5:51 PM
Is that other thing at the next junction up built yet? The Dutch priority square thingy
December 13, 2024 at 9:14 PM
These stands are now back in business again 🙌 Hopefully it can stay that way this time…
December 10, 2024 at 9:37 PM
Less blurry version…
December 1, 2024 at 9:21 PM
Bus stop bypasses, with cycle track raised to footway level to compensate for the lack of width
December 1, 2024 at 9:19 PM
The plans also no longer show the proposed controlled way of joining the bidirectional bike lane when cycling south. Old vs new…

I’m assuming Bridge St - Quay St was put on that side to reduce conflict with taxi ranks, bus stop and more side roads. At least once Quay St junction is done you won’t have to merge back, and then when Bridge St junction is done there will be a controlled way to join the bidirectional
