Meta, Microsoft and Google are all coordinating with the European far right in order to dismantle EU digital laws designed to protect citizens, according to a new report.

The recent 🇺🇸NSS strategy outlined regime change plans to support the European far right.

A public-private partnership.
US tech giants allying with European far-right to strip back EU rules
Amid rising EU-US tensions, a new report has accused Big Tech of courting far-right MEPs to weaken the EU's regulatory power on AI and data.

As we move deeper into the 2nd quarter of the 21st century, it does not remotely look like the tech utopia we were once promised.

The blueprint for humane and sustainable societies is still theoretical, still waiting for aspirational words to translate into […]

A means to structurally deflate the "AI" mania and immunize the public against a range of abuses in the hands of human-operated software, is to educate (much) more widely about the workings of simpler statistical algorithms.

The vast knowledge gap leaves people without mental models, no defenses.

When the core of the Death Star itself starts glowing white red you know something non-trivial is brewing.

Prediction is hard, esp. about the future, but 2026 will very likely see a major inflection point in how digital technology gets further adopted and embedded in society.

Evil overfloweth.
Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.

Just fuck you. Fuck you all.

I can't remember the last time I was this angry.

What people *choose* to do with the now ubiquitous interconnected silicon contraptions versus what is in-principle possible are two vastly different sets

The prevalent conflation of these two concepts is a social construct in itself: a projection of uniqueness and thus inevitability of choices

I know that ship has sailed, but we really, really should not be thinking and talking of software (=collections of computer commands put together by humans) as "technology".

Code is foremost a cultural construct while technologies are more directly shaped by properties of the natural world.

Eyes wide-shut.

The burden of sustainability reporting can be substantially relieved through the systematic development of an #opensource, #opendata infrastructure.

Rent-seeking intermediaries that keep costs high create an easy excuse for those who oppose any change - to our collective detriment
🇪🇺 The EU’s sustainability omnibus has cleared Parliament, slashing climate reporting rules by 90%.

The scope of #CSRD & #CSDDD has been cut, data requirements reduced & compliance delayed — raising concerns about access to reliable #ESG data. 👇

EU sustainability omnibus package approved, ESRS data points reduced
The EU sustainability omnibus was approved by lawmakers, as proposed changes to the reporting standards would streamline the amount of data reported.

#enshAItification is already a word, but instead of a simple rant against all things "AI" we can attach a testable hypothesis to it:

that "AI" will be embedded most deeply in the more oligopolistic segments of the economy. Where competing on quality of service provision exerts the least pressure.
