A real Hong Kong conversation, feat me and the HKBN customer support line:

Me: “I’m moving flats and want to relocate service.”
Them: “Ok but your contract is coming due, do you want to renew?”
M: “What’s the offer?”
T: “Well you’re on 1 gps fiber for $240 HKD a month, how about 2.5 gps for $185?”

Listening to Walking Wounded on vinyl in our Tokyo apartment.

“Wherever you go, I will follow you.”

Always true.

Like it or not, Mamdani is what Millennials on the left are like: working from a core ethical code, with ambitious goals and no shame over socialism. He’s the best of Warren and Bernie filtered through the millennial POV and makeup of the country. And establishment dems HATE it.

@nickheer.com I *constantly* get words without spaces andnns in between. Like that. Timento go. iOS 26 is insanely worse at things iOS has been fine at for 15 years.

If you never watched Wasteland (also known as The Rise) 2012/ 2013 crime caper you should.

If you need other incentives - very early Vanessa Kirby, great accents, clever plot.

Few things remind me of my place in the world (utterly unimportant, a speck among the stars) more than Shinjuku station on a Saturday night.

I can’t ever explain how much I love it.

@nickheer.com sending you my Liquid Glass thoughts as I wait for yours:

1. It’s much better than most people’s takes
2. It’s much buggier than anything Apple has ever released before.
3. As apps get updated it’s an improvement.
4. Alan Dye doesn’t get software quality.

And you’re not there
And no one wants a postcard
From another somewhere”

My iOS wish list:

1. Download purchased music from Bandcamp
2. Merge contacts in Contacts app
3. Turn off voice message toggle in Message text field
4. Setting to flip the mic and globe buttons so I can use mic (transcription) left handed.

Hong Kong is huge on custom license plates. They’re often hilarious and esoteric.

Realized I should post this as well. Such a great look at a very common phenomenon:
Leaving China asap.

How Tokyo became an unexpected haven for China’s middle class
An aspirational generation of Chinese arrivals is beginning to shape Japan’s demographic, social and perhaps even political destiny

“No daddies and mommies allowed,” the three year old says at the door to her school. She waves and turns around without a pause.

So that’s first day drop off done… no tears no fears no second thoughts.

I’m once again intentionally ignoring the news.

Also, I think I’d be better at Silksong if I hadn’t become good at Hollow Knight.

Back in Hong Kong after one of the best weekends ever: 2 nights of Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn at the tiny Moth Club in London (200 ppl). They played w/ their son, who sang a song of his own and an Adrianne Lenker song, both wonderful, among a great set of solo and EbtG material.

Feel so lucky.
